FIJI is part of efforts looking at the handling of maritime pollution in the Asia-Pacific region.

Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji CEO Neale Slack said in the 14 years prior to the forum's Nadi meet, officials had never come to an agreement as such.

In May, Fiji became the first Pacific island country to host an Asia-Pacific Heads of Maritime Agencies meeting and successfully reached a number of resolutions.

"We are looking at institutional strengthening and agreed support from the larger nations in the Pacific at the smaller nations," he said at Denarau yesterday.
