Ram swings to victory

MORE than 20 students and staff members of FNU Lautoka had a grand golfing bonanza at the Lautoka Golf Club on Saturday.

The new members went through free lessons before testing their new skills on the new greens.

After a hard fought battle on the course, 24- year-old Aklesh Shiu Ram claimed top spot on a score of nett 26.

Jackel Tuvuki finished second on 28 with Tuvuki Naivaluvou outright 3rd on 29.

FNU campus administrator Subash Singh who participated for the first time was impressed with the interest shown by the students and gaining knowledge from lessons provided by LGC members.

He said students were exited with the new sport and looking forward to battle against the top golfers in Lautoka in the near future.

"This is just the beginning and am sure more students will take advantage of this opportunity to learn the game and excel to be top golfers in the near future," said Singh.

"It is great to see the students and staff members having a competition within themselves and at the same time build on their golfing skills.

Meanwhile, Sajid Raza won the beginners category on 40, Mohammed d Salim finished 2nd on 41 with Dr.Ganesh Chand 3rd on 42.

Joe Vuluma hit the longest drive on hole 6.
