Nadi defends Theodore Trophy

NADI successfully defended the Theodore Trophy on Sunday.

Laced with national golf elite squad members such as Abid Hussain, Barroon Hussain, Anuresh Chandra, Zoheer Ahmed and Roneel Prakash, Nadi scored a total of 395 points.

The side finished way ahead of neighbour Lautoka which amassed 319 points.

Ba claimed the third spot with 311 points.

Prakash top scored for Nadi with 55 points.

Nadi also won the B Grade with 287 points.

Ba was second with 259 points followed by Denarau/Natadola with 242 points.

Denarau/Natadola won the C Grade with 165 points.

Nadi was second with 145 points followed by Ba with 144 points.

National Golf Association secretary Amitesh Chandra said 80 golfers participated in the tournament.

Amitesh said experience earned Nadi the main title.

"The inform players who are part of the national elite squad paved the way for Nadi's victory," he said.

"The likes of Barroon, Roneel, Zoheer and Anuresh scored 50 or more points which was not match by members of other teams.

"Now a management committee will be set up to take the Western team for the annual challenge against the Eastern counterparts."

The East versus West Challenge will be held at the Fiji Golf Club on August 3.
