ONE man has lost his life and five others are hospitalised after the van they were travelling in collided with a twin cab on Sunday night.

Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the 18-year-old deceased was driving the van with the five other passengers when the incident occurred near Malolo, Nadi.

"The twin cab was driven by a 30-year-old man, who is being interviewed by police," he said.

The five passengers who were injured are admitted at Lautoka Hospital.

"These are a 10-year-old, who is admitted at the children's ward, a 23-year-old admitted at the trauma ward, a 21-year-old carpenter and another 23-year-old who is in a serious condition after suffering from head injuries."

Meanwhile, Lautoka police also managed to re-capture prisoner Aiyaz Ali who escaped from police custody last week.

"Ali was arrested by officers from Lautoka Crime Intel Unit at Lovu Seaside settlement in Lautoka."
