NADROGA hammered Macuata 43-13 in their Skipper Cup match at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.

Nadroga fly half Jiuta Lutumailagi wasted no time as he scored the side's opening try within the first few minutes of play which was successfully converted by Apisalome Waqatabu.

Hosts, Macuata responded with a penalty to Apakuki Tulovo as they trailed 3-7.

Macuata scored its only try of the match through Joseva Ratuboa which was successfully converted by Meli Vula and they led 10-7.

Nadroga's Eremasi Radrodro scored another converted try to give his side the lead 14 -10.

A successful penalty by Macuata saw them close the gap to 14-13.

Nadroga prop Eneri Lotawa scored an unconverted try towards the end of the first half as the visitors held the lead 19-13 at halftime.

Nadroga controlled the second half as they went on a scoring spree with two converted tries to winger Aporosa Tabulawaki and Emosi Vucago, and another two unconverted tries to Setefano Somoca and Eremasi Radrodro.

In the end the side just proved too strong for the Macuata side winning by 43-13.

Nadroga assistant coach Samu Vunaki said that his side performed brilliantly against the Macuata team but that they needed to polish up on a few areas that he had identified mainly dealing with ball handling.

Vunaki said that they were glad to be leading the points table and they looked forward to meeting Nadi in Sigatoka next week.

Meanwhile Macuata coach Sireli Vesikuru said he was happy with his side's performance even though much was needed to be done with the side's fitness level.

Macuata is placed 10th in the points table and they will take on Northland at Subrail Park next week.
