Musical fiesta

ENTERTAINMENT will be the highlight of the 2014 Farmers Carnival, says committee president Udit Narayan.

Apart from the Little Masters talent contest, Mr Narayan said there would be musical and dance performances throughout the week.

"People can expect a diverse range of entertainment events from all ethnic groups, it will be a truly multi-racial festival," he said.

"Funds raised during the carnival will be used to assist children from the most impoverished families with their education needs."

Five beauties vying for the Miss Farmers Carnival crown opened the festival by perusing items for sale at a flea market held yesterday.

Doreen Lata, Manisha Dharshana, Kajal Lata, Amelia Tuifua and Bale Senikauciri are in the running for the contest.

Divisional police commander West SSP Salacieli Navilawasa formally opened the carnival last night.
