THE Fiji Sugar Corporation has stopped importing sugar for local consumption and says sugar on shelves of local supermarkets should become cleaner.

FSC chairman Abdul Khan said their intention was to produce 210,000 metric tonnes of raw sugar this year.

"We anticipate the local consumption to be 30,000 metric tonnes and the remaining 180,000 to be exported," Mr Khan said.
