IT has been restored as a landmark building of the Capital City and its grand opening is scheduled to be held after two months.

Grandly dubbed the Grand Old Lady, the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva has been restored and new wings added to give it a new look.

The original colonial era building in which the hotel started in 1914 still stands in the middle after the restoration works, with the new wings adding more elegance to the hotel.

GPH general manager Eugen Diethelm said on Thursday the hotel was in the soft opening period and the grand opening would be in August.

Mr Diethelm said the hotel was doing good as far as bookings were concerned.

The hotel was built by The Union Steamship Company in 1914.
