WINNING the teen and the princess categories of the Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival on Thursday night were never on the minds of Sera Vulava and Susan Singh.

Emotions ran high for the girls as they were crowned for winning their respective categories by chief guest HFC Bank CEO Isikeli Tikoduadua.

Newly crowned Miss Teen, Sera Vulava said the competition this year among the contestants in her category was strong.

"I thank my parents and family and for their support especially my mother who was my mentor and designer," she said.

"These were the people that helped me cope through these past few days and without them I would not be able to achieve this."

Princess category winner Ms Singh said she was over the moon last night.
