Death by asphyxiation

A YOUNG girl found dead over the weekend in Naikabula, Lautoka, died of asphyxiation through hanging, says police.

Spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death were still continuing.

A man was taken for questioning in relation to the death but Inspector Sokomuri said he was later released.

The owner of the home where the young girl was allegedly renting a room, Narayan Pillay, said Asena was a "nice girl".

He said there were sounds of a dispute coming from her room on the eve of her death.
