135 years of service

PREPARATION is in progress to bring joy and appreciation to Levuka Public School for serving its people over the years.

With 135 years under its name, Levuka Public School has nurtured many students that have made a name for themselves in Fiji and across the world.

Levuka Public School principal Nanise Tuimanono said this year's celebration would not be the same as of 2009 where the school celebrated its 130-year anniversary.

"Old scholars and current students have an event that will surely captivate the minds of those that will be invited for the special occasion," Mrs Tuimanono said.

"We have a different program set for this celebration and it includes a house-base carnival where different house princesses and ladies will compete for the carnival crowns."

She said the July celebration would focus on getting both the old scholars and current students together to organise the event.

"This year, the old scholars and the current students will march together which will surely boost the morale of the current students.

"The last celebration, students had to wait for the old scholars at the school but this year, we have united both of them to march through town."
