Miners claim title

VATUKOULA One claimed the Total Fiji-sponsored Mixed Fours event at the Vatukoula Bowling Club yesterday.

The hosts thrashed Suva 23-5 in the final.

Vatukoula One was skippered by Eminoni Turagabeci and had Francis Corrie, Lavenia Ratumudu and tournament co-ordinator Jare Josaia.

National rep Dan Lum On skippered the Suva team which included Elisabeth Moceiwai, Sera Appleby and Suresh Chand.

In the semi-final, Vatukoula One edged out Susie of Australia 19-17 while Suva downed Papua New Guinea 24-14.

Vatukoula Two won the Plate title beating Tamavua 22-11.

Josaia said six teams from Australia participated in the two-day competition.

He said Vatukoula One walked away with $2000.

"A total of 19 teams participated," Josaia said.
