Monday, June 09, 2014

THE police are continuing investigations into the alleged kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl by her biological father on Vanua Levu last week.

Divisional Police Commander Northern, Senior Superintendent of Police Naulumatua Lutunacaucau yesterday said the victim's father was being interrogated at the Tukavesi Police Station.

SSP Lutunacaucau said the girl was reported missing on May 31.

"The victim's biological father and mother had divorced and she was staying with her stepfather and mother at Tukavesi Village," he said.

"The victim was reported missing on May 31 before she was located at a farm in Loa Village on Friday last week.

"The girl is currently staying with relatives."

SSP Lutunacaucau said police would lay charges once they completed their investigations and received the victim's medical report from doctors.
