THE Vodafone Fiji under-20 rugby side needs to win its second pool match against France today to finish on a better spot in the 2014 IRB Junior World Championship (JWC).

The side lost its opening clash against last year's runner-up Wales 19-48 on Monday and will face an uphill battle against the fifth seed French side at ECOLight Stadium, Pukekohe in New Zealand.

France defeated Ireland 19-13 in its opening match to remain in the hunt for the top place finish in Pool B.

Fiji, which is seeded 11th, escaped demotion from the competition after beating Italy and the US in last year's JWC.
