Rice production at Dreketi mill

By LUKE RAWALAI
Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Update: 4:14PM THE Rewa Rice Mill in Dreketi, Macuata, on Vanua Levu produced 608 tonnes of paddy last year, 68 per cent of which was rice.

Mill manager Ashrit Pratap said: Our cost of rice landing cost in Fiji is $1.11 a kilogram and the cost for imported rice depends upon the variety.

The cheapest one in the supermarkets is $1.09 or $1.10, therefore, the landing cost must be $1 but we currently do not have the exact cost because we dont import rice.
