Ex label steals the show

DESIGNS from the Ex label collection by Anton Conway and Alex Ligairi in the Established Designers show were so elegant that viewers could have been forgiven for thinking they were straight out of a fashion magazine.

The 13 fine and carefully designed outfits from the two designers highlighted shapes more likely to be seen on international runways with their fair share of accessories.

Established designer Anton Conway said working on the 13 designs was daunting, especially having only two weeks to finalise the pieces.

"For my designs I used the four elements of nature which were earth, wind, water and fire and for patterns it was all about the shapes," Mr Conway said.

"For my final design I used black fabric that represented night and there were 19 pieces altogether."

He said he really loved watching the overseas designers' work particularly designs from Samoa.

"There were some hiccups during the show but we managed to address them and apart from that, the show was great," Mr Conway said.

"This is my last year with Fiji Fashion Week and so I wanted to create the best I can and from there I will be doing other fashion projects."

Established designer Moira Solvalu said her designs were mainly for travellers especially for parents and children who went on holiday.

"Every year we always hope to bring Fijian traditional designs and the challenge is always having the prints and trying to work with it," Mrs Solvalu said.
