Nature's inspiration

SIGA Tabuasei is a great fan of colours and nature so it was obvious this was where she drew inspiration from when designing garments for her Splashes of Colour collection under the Dedication label.

Tabuasei will be showing her maiden collection at the Fiji Fashion Week Emerging Designers show on Friday at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

"I am a great fan of colours and nature," Tabuasei said.

"For example, the trees and the colour of leaves — those are what inspire me."

What will make her collection even more special is that she has tailored her own garments.

"My mum used to sew my clothes but now that she's busy, I'll be tailoring my own clothes. It has been very hectic."

She has designed garments for family and close friends since high school and was inspired to do this again but for a much bigger audience at the FJFW.

Tabuasei said the FJFW was a great platform for up and coming designers to showcase their talent.

Tickets for the Emerging Designers show can be purchased from Damodar City.
