By SHAYAL DEVI
Friday, May 23, 2014

Update: 3:47PM PEOPLE in Nadi and Lautoka are urged to start storing water in preparation for the 48-hour water cut this weekend.

More than 161,000 people would be affected and WAF said work would be carried out to repair three major leaks in the high pressure main from Vaturu to Nagado Treatment Plant.

"Alongside this, installation of isolation valves will be done to improve hydraulics," WAF said.

"These works are expected to decrease water loss via leaks.

"The duration of works will be from 10pm Friday to 10pm Sunday.  The areas affected will be all of Nadi and some parts of Lautoka."

WAF has advised customers in the affected areas to store water for their immediate needs and use water sparingly.

The non-affected areas include Lautoka City, except high residences along Loma Lane, Lautoka Hospital, Waiyavi Stage 5, MT Khan, Mendhi Place, Vitogo Paipai, Naikabula, Tomuka, Matawalu, Johnson, Drasa Dam, Ajan Rd, Qalitu, Vitogo Koro, Naviyago Koro, Vunato and Buabua.
