Pearls focus on fitness

FIJI Pearls will play some build up matches this week in preparation for the Pacific Netball Series (PNS) in Cook Islands next month.

Coach Julie Hoornweg joined the team earlier this week and has started working on the combination and other aspects of the play.

The major focus however remains on the fitness of the players and Hoornweg is working closely with the trainer to get the player's fitness on par.

National team manager RubyAnn Sorovaki said the national team would undergo scrimmaging session this week.

"The national team and the Fiji A players will play among each other which will allow the coach to look at the position and other areas, "she said.

Fiji is the defending champions of the PNS and needs to finish in top two in the competition this year to book its place in the 2015 World Netball Championship in Sydney, Australia.
