Inspiration from pandanus

FROM BeMe last year to simply Mere & Robert, the garment label for Mere Schuster and Robert Verebasaga has evolved and will be showcased at the Fiji Fashion Week Resort Wear category on May 29.

The duo has drawn inspiration from the famous pandanus plant and production is already underway at Asia Pacific Management Ltd.

"We've gone with the famous pandanus, from the flowers to the leaves, to the end product which is the mat vakadivilivili," Ms Schuster said.

"Because Resort Wear is featuring this year, we decided to go down that line - tourism is another big market to tap into."

The two designers are also looking forward to the lessons they will learn as they prepare to feature in FJFW.
