Mother's Day treat for 10

Salaseini Moceiwai
Monday, May 19, 2014

FOR 10 elderly women of Yaroi Village in Savusavu, being special guests at an eventful morning tea on Friday was the best Mother's Day gift for them this year.

The women, all above the age of 65, were emotional when their daughters, in-laws and sisters prepared morning tea and presented gifts to them at the village hall.

Event organiser Torika Uluiviti said they decided to host the women to tea to show their appreciation to them for their upbringing and teachings.

"This is the first time we have organised such an event and we feel it is only proper to appreciate all they have done for the younger generation of this village," she said.

"Most of these women are widows and are sickly."

Ms Uluiviti said they would continue to host the elderly women in the future.
