Probe into boat mishap

POLICE are intensifying investigations into a boating accident in waters near Mana Island Resort in the Mamanuca Group which resulted in the death of a 40-year-old Australian man.

The man was believed to be holidaying at the resort with his wife and two children when the incident happened on Thursday evening.

It is understood that he was on board a resort boat that was hit by a fibreglass punt travelling from Mana to Tavua Village on Malolo Island. The man sustained head injuries and was unable to be revived at the scene, an Information Ministry statement read.
