Heavy rain brings flooding to Rakiraki Town

Update: 6:05PM RAKIRAKI Town is now flooded and cut off from the Suva and Lautoka ends.

National Disaster and Management Office director Manasa Tagicakibau says reports have been received that the town area and the Fiji Sugar Corporation compound were flooded.

"Members of the public are urged to continue listening to the radio for further information regarding the heavy rain and flood warning," Mr Tagicakibau said.

"Take all appropriate precautionary measures that need to be taken as flooding could be experienced first to low-lying areas as we are approaching high tide at 8:33pm today with the of height 1.60m," he said.
