1 road death for division

ROAD users should expect more Land Transport Authority operations on northern roads soon.

Speaking at the Cakaudrove meeting in Taveuni last week the authority's acting general manager North Neil Eyre said so far there had only been one road death in the North this year.

Mr Eyre said the country's road death toll currently stood at 26 including the mother and child who died at the Suva bus stand.

"The North is yet to record another road death toll this year and this is a good positive sign which should remain as it is until Christmas," he said.

"This is a sign that drivers are careful on our roads, however we still need to do away with the one road death toll because the roads in the North need to be accident free.

"Therefore our operations team will be out on the roads doing operations daily in order to achieve this aim."
