Packaging facility

Saturday, May 17, 2014

A CASSAVA packaging facility is being planned for the Northern Division to cater for the export of the root crop to the international market.

Agricultural Marketing Authority sales and marketing manager Alivereti Yaya said there was a risk of the crop being damaged while being transported to Viti Levu for export.

"What we have been doing is bringing in a large amount of cassava from the North. The root crop is brought to Viti Levu but there is a risk there because by the time they reach the packaging facility most of them are bad."

He said the packaging facility would address this problem.
