NEW Zealand based Altaf Saheb and Mohammed Shoaib Khan have been drafted into the Fiji under-19 team for the Oceania playoffs that starts in Suva next week.

The Fiji Football Association was forced to look abroad for replacements after five players were dropped from the squad on the weekend for disciplinary reasons.-

Out of the team are star Rewa striker Iosefo Verevou, goalkeeper Waisea Yavala, midfielder Kelvin Naidu, striker Aveen Kumar and defender Samuela Gavo.

Fiji FA vice president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy confirmed the axing.

Reddy said the cases of the five players would be dealt by the board of control. "Five players have been dropped from the squad for disciplinary reasons," he said.

"We are going into an important tournament which serves as the FIFA U20 World Cup qualifiers so indiscipline will not be tolerated.

"The coaching staff identified two players who impressed for the Fiji Select team against our U19 team during the tour of New Zealand. Altaf and Shoaib will join the team by Friday."

The Ravinesh Kumar coached side is based at the Fiji FA academy in Vatuwaqa.

The team will face Rewa in a warm-up game today.

Fiji will play American Samoa in the opening match of the playoffs at 2.30pm at the ANZ Stadium next Friday.
