Update: 2:00PM A 19-year-old man of Yadrana Village in Lakeba, who was missing at sea for 24 hours, is now treated for dehydration at Lakeba Rural Hospital in Lau.

Police confirm the man went fishing on Monday but failed to return in the afternoon.

His family reported him missing at the Lakeba Police Station and a search was conducted with a group of youths from a nearby village.

The victim, however, managed to swim safely ashore.

Police are urging those who go out to sea to be mindful of the weather and follow safety measures at all times.
