Crushing to start in June

Felix Chaudhary
Wednesday, May 14, 2014

CRUSHING dates have been announced by the FSC.

The 2014 season will begin on June 17 at the Penang mill in Rakiraki, Labasa will follow on June 18, Rarawai in Ba on June 19 and sugar production will start on July 1 at the country's largest mill in Lautoka.

Sugar Cane Growers Council CEO Sundresh Chetty said the farmers should immediately begin holding memorandum of gang agreement meetings and start preparations for harvesting.

"The feedback we received from growers during consultations held earlier this year is that confidence has been restored with the continuing improvements to the mills and we anticipate a good harvest and crush season," he said.
