Fishing trip turns tragic

Update: 2:22PM A CLASS six student has become the latest drowning victim.

Police spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri said the 11-year-old student was catching fish with her uncle and two other cousins of the same age at the Wainibuka River when the incident happened.

It is alleged they were attending to their fishing net when the victim drowned.

He said her uncle managed to get out of the water, tried to revive her but failed.

Police are urging parents to be more cautious at all times.
