TERTIARY students on Taveuni are excited about plans to open a Fiji National University Campus on the island in three months time.

Speaking at the Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting on Taveuni on Thursday, FNU representative Filimoni Saumaki said a piece of land on the island earmarked for the campus was transferred to the university last month.

Mr Saumaki said the land was being cleared with administrative operations expected to begin by August.

"The Taveuni campus will provide the pathways to students of secondary schools on Taveuni to join the university and continue their studies in several areas.
