THE Fiji Labour Party has confirmed it will have a board meeting later this week to discuss the matter relating to the party's new leadership.

Party president Lavinia Padarath said there had been much speculation in the media concerning the party's leadership.

"The FLP management board is to meet later this week to discuss the matter.

"Meanwhile, the party has been advised that Mr Chaudhry has appealed against his conviction," Mrs Padarath said.

She confirmed the appeal was filed in the Fiji Court of Appeal on April 11, 2014.

The conviction disallows Chaudhry to contest the general election.

The general election will be held on September 17.
