Dream comes true for Police Constable

Torika Tokalau
Wednesday, April 30, 2014

AFTER eight years of applying, Police Constable Gaunavou Vakalevei's dream of being a part of a peacekeeping mission has finally come true.

Constable Vakalevei will be a part of a five-member police peacekeeping team that will leave for war-torn Liberia in the next two weeks.

"Ever since I joined the police force 14 years ago, my dream was always to be a part of a mission," Constable Vakalevei said.

"Being a part of a peacekeeping mission is an experience of a lifetime and one I strived towards from the very beginning of my police career."

He has worked as a schoolteacher, a fisheries field officer and a sales rep.
