Hussein wins Ba golf title

BA Open champion Abid Hussein has laid the platform for this year's campaign winning the Western Solar Limited-sponsored Western Open event at the Ba Golf Club greens over the weekend.

The Nadi-based golfer shrugged off a tough competition from Arvin Chand to become the overall gross winner with a score of 67.

Hussein was pushed to the wire by Chand who finished on second spot with overall net of 63.

Tournament official Rajeshwar Prasad said the tough competition enabled the golfers to come out of their comfort zone.

He said Hussein was in top form and would be a force to be reckoned with this season.

In the A-grade category Rohit Chandra won with a score of 67 followed by Shakti Singh and Mohammed Jalil with 71 and 72 respectively.

Full results: overall gross winner Abhid Hussein play-off with Rohit Chandra score 76 gross, overall net winner Arvin chand of Nadi Golf Club with a score of 63 net.

A grade: 1st Rohit Chandra-67, 2nd Shakti Singh- 71, 3rd Vishwa Nadan - 73. Mohammed Jalan- 72.

B grade:1st Nicky Thain -67, 2nd Sahil Singh -70,3rd Rajesh Prasad ( Western Builders Staff )-76

C grade: 1st grade Eroni (Junior) score- 64,2nd Aman Junior- 66, 3rd Pradeep Chandra - 67
