Family support propels Chand to new heights

Tevita Vuibau

RESHMA Chand would not have made it through to her graduation day if it was not for the constant support and encouragement of her family.

Mrs Chand was among those who graduated from FNU with a Bachelor of Commerce in Industrial Relations and Human Resources Management on Friday.

After having an arranged marriage in 2001, Mrs Chand feared her lofty education goals would remain unfulfilled.

"That was one of the first questions that I asked my husband, will you allow me to study? He was happy with that so I was very thankful," she said.

Though her husband supported her quest for higher education, there were still more challenges to follow.

"We had financial difficulties and my husband and children were in the West while I studied and worked here in Suva and it was quite difficult."
