Sunday, April 27, 2014

BA River, Sorokoba, Nailaga and Vadravadra have confirmed their spots in the semi-final of the Ba Rugby Union club competition.

With the completion of the fifth round yesterday, these four teams will battle to determine the winner of the first round.

Competition official Salesitino Gukirewa said these teams were impressive during the pool games and it would be exciting for these top teams to battle for the top spot.

"These four teams have proven their status in Ba rugby and it will be tough semi-finals for all the teams," said Gukirewa.

"All teams have equal chances of winning and the team that has the will to win will be crowned the winner."

Ba coach Gabirieli Naborisi said the semi-finals would bring out the best from the players.

He said he would use the semi-final to select his squad for this season.

The former national rep said fitness level needed to be lifted.

"I am not satisfied with the fitness level based on the club competition," said Naborisi.

"Players will need to dig deep if they want to be considered for the Ba team.

"But I am hopeful fitness level will improve in the near future."

In other games held yesterday Sasa defeated Nataleicake 12-6, Ba River Blues was thumped 29-6 by Yalalevu while Yakete won by default over Senicaucau.
