Plans for school

PLANS are afoot to establish Year 13 at Vatuvonu SDA College in Cakaudrove by 2016.

In opening the newly-extended blocks at the college on Thursday, Prime Minister Rear Admiral Voreqe Bainimarama said the school was only educating Years One to 11 at the moment.

The blocks, one of which will be used by Year 11 students and the other a computer lab, was a collective project of the government, Seventh-Day Adventist Church and the local community.

Rear Admiral Bainimarama said the project also resulted in the renovation of the home economics and science laboratory rooms.

"We all know that any school is only as good as the community around it and so apart from the government's funding assistance, the government wants to pay tribute to the collaboration of the SDA church,community, teachers and students," he said.

"This has further allowed improvements to be made to the girls and boys dormitories and also providing a clean supply of water to the school."
