Yamacia to open rugby shop

Maciu Malo
Tuesday, April 15, 2014

TWO years after its formation, the Yamacia Rugby Club has achieved a milestone with the planned opening of a new rugby shop in Nadi later this week.

The shop will promote the club's rugby merchandise known as Young Rugged Champion and will generate income for the club.

The rugby shop is a continuation of the club's commitment to expose untapped rugby talent in the highlands of Navosa and Ba.

National 7s reps Semi Kunatani, Donasio Ratubuli, Mosese Mawalu and new national squad member Ropate Labalaba are living testament of the club's rugby development.

Club president David Dakuitoga said, "Since running a club needs a lot of financial assistance, we thought of starting up a business to support our initiative — Changing Lives the Rugby Way.

"We will be launching the Yamacia brand YRC — Young Rugged Champions.

"The Yamacia Rugby Club now uses its famous slogan of 'Hit hard, hit harder' as its brand in sports uniforms, promotional T-shirts, caps and sports bags.

"The idea to use the brand drives on the spirit of perseverance to reach the impossible.

"We are opening a shop this week in Nadi Town to be able to cater for all rugby needs in the West.

"We will be selling all sporting kits and accessories from T-shirts to customised rugby uniforms, netball and other sporting uniforms.

"We promise quality in our garments and very unique styles to suit modern sports."

Dakuitoga said the club would partner Tau Sports in producing rugby wear.

The club, now in its second year since its establishment in 2012, preaches this spirit through its brand.

"The club had a foretaste of this when their first branded jersey was released. The jersey was like an amour for the ruggers.

"The introduction of the first branded jersey also featured the rise of the club.

"The quality of the merchandise produced from jersey material polymer, viscose — Teflon stain resistant fabric, cotton and even brush cotton twill fabric for custom made Yamacia caps."
