$1.25m payday

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

FIJI Airways yesterday announced that the management and staff will share $1.25million in profit-share and bonuses.

Managing director and CEO Stefan Pichler said 810 employees, including those working for Pacific Sun, would receive $1400 each.

The management will receive a bonus of $4000 each.

"It was one of my key short term objectives to get this great initiative activated for the last financial year," he said.

"We want to become the employer of choice and an organisation which rewards its people for good performances. We all have to share good and bad times together.

"And when we deliver on our key business objectives, everyone should benefit."

The payout is the first for the airline since it was approved by the board last year. Mr Pichler said the profit-share was testament to the commitment by management and staff to deliver a positive financial result over the past nine months.

He said a lot of discussions were held prior to making the announcement because of the financial obligations brought about by the purchase of three brand new aircraft.

"It was not an easy decision to make as we need every dollar to fund our new and enlarged fleet and we also want to pay off our debts as quickly as possible."

In addition to the profit-share and bonuses, Mr Pichler said non-management staff at Fiji Airways and Pacific Sun could earn a further $1200 per annum on achievement of key business objectives.
