Bid to win gold

Arin Kumar
Thursday, April 10, 2014

THE national table tennis side will attempt to reclaim the gold medal when it competes in the Oceania Championships in Australia next week.

Fiji had been winning the gold medal for a number of years until they lost it to Kiribati in 2012.

Team official Christopher Lal said an eight-member team would be accompanied by two officials to the tournament in Bendigo in Australia.

"This is the same number as last year, four men and four women," he said.

"The main aim of the team is to win back the team gold medal that we lost to Kiribati for the past two years."

Lal said two overseas-based players would join the team in Australia.
