Weather forecast predicts heavy rain

Update: 12:50PM A HEAVY rain warning is in force for eastern Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Yasawas, northern Lau and the Lomaiviti Group.

The Fiji Meteorological Service issued the following bulletin at 10.45 this morning.

"A trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms remains slow moving over Fiji. It is expected to affect the group till Sunday.

"Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji Group, periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

"Heavy rain is expected to ease from tomorrow afternoon."

Mariners are also warned to take precautions due to moderate to rough seas.
