A 73-YEAR-OLD man died after the vehicle he was travelling in went off the road at Tagitagi in Tavua on Monday night.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the victim was travelling in a four-wheel-drive with five others when it ran off the road around 11pm.

"The driver and two other passengers are still admitted at Lautoka Hospital while two others were treated and sent home," she said.

"A post-mortem examination will be conducted soon and investigators will await doctors' approval before questioning the driver and other passengers."

The national road death toll now stands at 14 compared to 12 this time last year.
