Wednesday, April 02, 2014

A MAN facing a murder charge was remanded by the Suva Magistrates Court to appear in the High Court.

Gauna Colati, 35, was charged with the offence on Monday after he was alleged to have assaulted a 24-year-old in Suva last weekend. The man later died as a result of the injuries.

Yesterday, the matter was transferred to the High Court under the Crimes Decree that states that murder is an indictable offence which has to be tried in the High Court.

Mr Colati was told to make the necessary bail applications to the High Court. He was also advised to secure a legal counsel. The case will be called in a fortnight.
