Plans afoot to house beggars

By DAWN GIBSON
Tuesday, April 01, 2014

Update: 2:46PM IN about six weeks, beggars around the country will be given the opportunity to live in a home provided for them by the Nazarene Church in Fiji.

This follows the signing of an agreement this morning between the church and the Ministry of Social Welfare, where the ministry allocated $100,000 to the church to organise the project.

The church already owns land and a building which will be used to house the street dwellers, while the money provided will go towards the refurbishment of the building and its maintenance, as well as rehabilitation programs for the beggars.
