Election mission

Monday, March 31, 2014

THE Social Democratic Liberal Party says the economy will be a critical issue in the election campaign.

SODELPA president and Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa made the comment at the party's Central Constituency AGM in Suva on Friday.

"The SODELPA mission is clear — we must urgently restore the confidence that has been lost and put Fiji on to a path of growth for the long run," she said.

"We will harness the best economic brains in our party and from the community to implement a plan to revive growth.

"The focus will be on providing employment and livelihood for the many thousands of people without an income."

Ro Teimumu said SODELPA would achieve success from a well-managed and more open economy constructed on sound policies bolstered by confidence among investors, employers and workers.

She said full confidence would return when legitimate, accountable parliamentary authority prevailed and there was full application of the rule of law.
