Khelawan crowned Nadi champ

VETERAN Ram Khelawan was crowned the 2014 Summer Cup winner at the Nadi Airport Golf Club yesterday.

The 56-year-old capped off the six weeks competition on a high note after winning the final round.

Khelawan dominated the A Grade winning four of the six tournaments in the Metalworks & Joinery/Islands Pacific Apparel-sponsored event.

This is his fourth Summer Cup title.

Khelawan who plays on a handicap of seven scored 38 points in the 18 holes stableford competition.

Munesh Prasad claimed the second spot after a countback from Roneel Prakash after both golfers scored 36 points.

Former club president Chandra Segran Pillay won the B Grade Summer Cup.

He scored 40 nett. Balram was second with 39 nett while Mahesh Prasad was third with 31 nett.

Arveen Chand won the C Grade Summer Cup. Chand scored 39 nett. Sunil Datt was second with 37 nett while Gary Jones was third with 35 nett.

Datt won the nearest to the pin prize.

The season opening four team ambrose event will be played next Saturday.
