VODAFONE managing director Aslam Khan has commended the efforts of the national Vodafone 7s team after their impressive win at the Japan 7s over the weekend.

He said the Ben Ryan-coached team had done wonders for the country and the company was honoured to sponsor the side.

Khan said the side had secured $25,000 bonus for the win.

"We are back to winning ways," he said.

"The boys have secured a $25,000 bonus payout after the win in Tokyo and we will continue to empower and support the boys through our joint sponsorship with Fiji Airways so that they bring more glory for our country.

"I wish to also acknowledge the wonderful job done by the team management in preparing the team and we look forward to welcoming the team with the spoils next week."

Khan has also sent his well wishes to the team as they prepare to defend the Hong Kong 7s title.

"We are hopeful for a repeat performance in Hong Kong this weekend."

Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Stefan Pichler echoed the similar sentiments about the 7s boys.

"On behalf of our Fiji Airways team, I would like congratulate coach Ben Ryan and our national 7s team for their marvellous win and outstanding performance at the Tokyo Sevens," he said.

"We are very proud to be associated with Fiji rugby.

"The inspiring performance of our team makes them a role model for every one of us in our daily duties for Fiji's national airline.

"We can hardly wait for next weekend to see more of our players at the Hong Kong Sevens."
