Third call for Lautoka meeting

Maciu Malo
Tuesday, March 25, 2014

LAUTOKA Netball Association is urging its club representatives to attend the AGM at Jasper Williams High School on Thursday.

The AGM has been postponed twice as a result of a lack of quorum.

Association secretary Kinisalote Drasuna is urging club reps to attend the AGM for the betterment of netball in Lautoka.

"We were supposed to have the AGM last Thursday but we didn't have a quorum," she said.

"In fact, this is the second time we have cancelled the AGM and we are calling on clubs to send their representatives this Thursday."

Drasuna said a total of 27 clubs reps are expected to attend the meeting.

"But we need at least 50 per cent attendance at the meeting."

"The meeting is to elect our new sets of officials."

Drasuna said the fixtures for this year's weekly club games would be released after the AGM.

Meanwhile, association president Joji Lagi has maintained his stand that he will not contest the presidency.

Lagi said he was satisfied with his one-year performance at the helm of Lautoka netball that featured the Sugar City netters breaking new ground last season.

He said during his one-year term, Lautoka managed to win two national titles while most of their netters had progressed in the sport.

Lagi said Lautoka won the under-21 national title after 16 years and also took out the B grade title after six years.

"I will not contest the election but I will try and assist the girls in any way possible," he said.
