Two years later, couple moves into new home

Update: 12:40PM THE long wait to receive assistance from government is finally over this morning for elderly couple Satya Nand, 59, and Archari Wati 56, who lost everything during Cyclone Evan.

The couple whose family home was taken by the floods at Naviyago, Lautoka in 2012 have since relocated to Teidamu in Matawalu on the outskirts of Lautoka.

Their new home which was built by the government was one of the 20 new homes opened by Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki this morning.

"I know the wait was long, but government had promised us a home so we kept praying for this day," said Mr Nand.

"This is our happiest moment in a long time," said the poultry farmer.
