Dependants receive worker compensation

Update: 1:32PM THE Labour Ministry today paid out worker compensation to four dependents of deceased workmen.

Minister Jone Usamate said the ministry was trying to make all workplaces safe.

He said legislation allowed for compensation to be paid by employers to injured employees or, in the case of death to the employees beneficiaries.

There is a duty by all parties to make sure that the workplace is safe, the minister said.
