NADROGA striker Jospeh Elder was hero for his side on Sunday as he scored their only goal in the 1-1 draw with Rewa during their Skipper Tuna/Fiji Sun National Football League clash at Lawaqa Park.
Elder nailed his team's only goal in the 5th minute of the first half after a blunder from a Rewa defender.
The home side had some new faces and their fitness level had improved compared with their previous home games.
Krishnell Dutt made his presence felt at the back for Nadroga with his trademark long-range clearing kicks while Elder, Filipe Tuidave and Elvin Prasad controlled the game in the middle.
A number of their attempts at goal threatened the Rewa goalmouth but fortunately goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva used his height well to make some spectacular saves.
Nadroga controlled the game in the first spell and had territorial advantage while Rewa improved their game in the second half.
In the 72nd minute, Rewa's Luke Lomasalato's indirect free kick was well read by Iosefo Verevou who managed to beat Nadroga goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca in a tussle in front of the goalmouth before he neatly placed the ball into the back of the net to level the scores.
Despite the draw, Rewa coach Marika Rodu was not happy with the performance of his players.
"Our defence was not up to standard and they allowed Nadroga to dictate play," said the former national soccer player.
He said it was his team's second draw of the season.
"We were placed in the table but I think we will still maintain that position after this draw," he added.
But he said they would work hard to improve on their weaknesses.
